During breakfast we will be hearing about how the town's plans for Christmas are progressing. This year it will be a BIG event on Saturday 7 December involving the church, library, museum, Jubilee Hall, cinema and very many of our members. The High Street will close (briefly) for the Christmas lights on the tree to be switched on by Charles Dickens himself and Santa will be in his grotto handing out gifts to all the town's children. Huge efforts are being put into the day by community groups and volunteers so we are very keen for local businesses to enter into the spirit of things, particularly as it will also be Small Business Saturday. Do get in touch and let us know if you are going all out for the Dickens theme (costumes available from the Museum!) or if you are simply doing some special Christmas food, drink or gift offers on that day. Publicity materials are being prepared and we would like to include our members' plans so contact Sarah if you have any news.
Fundraising for the lights along the High Street is also going well and thank you so much to everyone that has sent us a donation. Sally and Sarah will be going up and down the High Street on Tuesday 29 October so if you want to hand us some cash or discuss options for 7 December, look out for us.
