The ABA committee of four are all unpaid volunteers. They take part because they love the town and believe that by working together local businesses are stronger and have a louder voice on common aims.
Ella is an arts and heritage professional. She is the Head of Red House for Britten Pears Arts based at The Red House, Aldeburgh. She moved to Aldeburgh in 2016 and is passionate about the community, local businesses and the environment that surrounds the Suffolk Coast. She sings in local choir Aldeburgh Voices, is a volunteer for Siren Festival and takes part in the Aldeburgh Relay Triathlon.
Gary Thompson, Treasurer
Gary was elected to the post in April. He is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) and has held senior positions within number of multinationals including that of Group Treasurer. He moved to Suffolk (Friston) last December with his wife Jacqui and opened ‘Wag & Bone’ in Aldeburgh High Street earlier this year. He is keen to get involved with the ABA and local business community. Outside of work Gary enjoys tennis, cycling and running, he can sometimes be found in the White Hart after a hard day!
Aldeburgh resident and manager of Brudenell since July 2019, Richard has a background in entertainment and hospitality including the management of Cromer Pier and Pavilion Theatre. He is the former manager of Blakeney Hotel and The Hoste Arms in Burnham Market. He has worked for both International Wine Challenge and Sommelier Wine Awards in London as a wine judge. His sporting interest are of the football and cricket variety, although his playing days are numbered!
Gina joined the ABA Committee in September 2020. She moved to Suffolk in 2018 and works for Incredible Oceans, an environmental events non-profit based here in Aldeburgh but has experience in high street retailing. In 2019 Gina was part of the team who delivered Siren Festival in Aldeburgh and continues to work to develop projects to connect young people in Suffolk with the environment. Gina has a passion for nature much preferring to be outside walking, cycling and running than being at a desk!
